The Band

Pete Robinson grew up in Northern Maine, where feelings are best unsaid, unless you put them in a song.

He heard "Start Me Up" at 14, got a cheap guitar, and has been making sense of the world with six strings and paint ever since.

Now based near the Connecticut/Rhode Island border, he makes acoustic rock drawing from Tom Petty, Joni Mitchell, Pete Townshend, Richard Thompson, and Hiss Golden Messenger. He prefers groove, hooks, economy, and the occasional emotional ambush.

His latest album, 10,000, was produced by Grammy-nominated Seth Glier and recorded at Power Station New England.

He also paints with the same vocabulary as the songs: color and movement, with the quiet parts doing most of the work.
